1. Aretalogia’s birth history.

Alkuvuosi 1981 oli henkisesti erittäin raskasta aikaa minun kotiseudulla ja monet nuoret eivät jaksaneet enää elää. Huolimatta siitä, että meillä Suomessa elettiin taloudellisesti kenties historiamme kukoistavinta aikaa ja ulkoiset puitteet elämässä selviytymiselle ja menestymiselle olivat kaikille olemassa. Esimerkkinä mainittakoon, että koulutusmahdollisuudet olivat olemassa kaikille nuorille kyvykkyyden ja kiinnostuksen mukaan jopa korkeakouluihin asti; riippumatta vanhempien varallisuudesta tai muista synnynnäisistä lähtökohdista. Ja kuitenkin jatkuvasti kuului viestejä aina uusista ja uusista nuorten itsemurhista ja muutaman kuukauden aikana kaikkiaan kuusi nuorta kaveria päätti oman käden kautta elämänsä. Ja vaikka en näitä kavereita henkilökohtaisesti tuntenut, koski jokainen tapaus syvälle myös minun sydämeen.
The beginning of the year 1981 was an extremely heavy time mentally in my home area and many young people did not have any more the strength to live. In spite of fact that we in Finland went through the most flourishing perhaps our time of history economically and the external setting for managing and success in the life existed to everybody. It should be mentioned as an example that the education possibilities existed even up to the universities for all the young people according to capability and interest; irrespective of wealth of parents or irrespective of other inborn starting points. And however, messages about new and new suicides of the adolescents always belonged continuously and during a few months six young friends decided his life through one's own hand. Even though I did not know these friends personally, every case touched profoundly also to my heart.

Siinä tilanteessa tutkin mielessäni perusteellisesti syitä näihin traagisiin tapauksiin ja myös sitä, mitä minä lähimmäisenä voisin tehdä, ettei kenenkään tarvitsisi näinkin kohtalokkaisiin ratkaisuihin päätyä. Minulla on aina ollut halua auttaa ja palvella lähimmäisiäni hengellisen kutsumustyön puitteissa. Minä olen halunnut auttaa vanhuksia, sairaita, leskiä ja orpoja, mutta nyt näiden nuorten itsemurhien kohdalla perinteiset auttamisentavat eivät enää päteneet. Tarvittiin jotain täysin uutta, jotain, jonka kautta voisin saavuttaa yhteyden kaikkiin ihmisiin, myös heidän yksinäisiin ja raskaisiin hetkiinsä. Tätä asiaa pohtiessani sain ajatuksen aloittaa oman ilmaisjakelulehden toimittaminen jokaiseen kotiin Sodankylässä. Nyt ensimmäisenä mieleeni nousi kysymys siitä, mikä tulee tämän lehden nimeksi? Samaan aikaan olin lukemassa mainiota kirjaa: ”Neljä evankelistaa”, jonka oli kirjoittanut professori Aapeli Saarisalo. Tässä kirjassa kerrottiin, että helleenien aikana kreikkalaiset käyttivät vaeltavista matkasaarnaajista nimitystä aretalogi ja aretalogia oli heidän suullinen tai kirjallinen julistuksensa. Professori Saarisalon mukaan sana ”aretalogia” tulee sanoista ”aretas legein”, joka tarkoittaa Suomeksi: ”kertoa Jumalan ihmeteoista”. Ja edelleen professori Saarisalo jatkaa: ”Aretalogia oli siis yleisnimitys sille kirjallisuuden lajille, joka kirkon piirissä tunnettiin evankeliumin nimellä”. Nyt tämä kirjalliseen sananjulistukseen viittaava ARETALOGIA nousi ikään kuin Jumalan johdatuksesta tulevan lehteni nimeksi.
     Sodankylän kunnassa kaikkiin koteihin ilman maksua jaettavan lehden kustannukset olivat kuitenkin niin suuret, että tammikuulla 1981 siihen ei minulla ollut mitään mahdollisuutta ja niin asia jäi kypsymään sieluni syvyyksiin.
In that situation I study the reasons for these tragic cases thoroughly in my mind and also, what I could do as fellowman that nobody would have to end up in even such fateful solutions. I have always had a desire to help and to serve my fellowmen within a spiritual mission. I have wanted to help old persons, the sick widows and orphan but now the traditional helping ways did not hold true by these young suicides any more. Totally something new was needed something through that I could reach the connection to all the people, also their into lonely and heavy moments. When thinking about this matter, I got the thought to begin the delivery of the own free newspaper into all homes in Sodankylä. Now, first rose to mind the question of what should be the name of this magazine? At the same time I was reading an excellent book: ” Four evangelists” which professor Aapeli Saarisalo had written. In this book it was told that during the Hellenes the Greeks used the definition aretalogi from the wandering itinerant preachers and aretalogia were their oral or written proclamation. According to professor Saarisalo, the word ”aretalogia”, become a words ”aretas legein”, which means Finland: ”To tell God’s about the miracles”. And still professor Saarisalo continues: ”So Aretalogia was a general definition to that species of the literature which within the sphere of the church was known with the name of the Gospel”. Now this ARETALOGIA that refers to a written preaching it got to be the name of my paper, which came as if from the guidance of God.
     In municipality of Sodankylä to all homes without payment to give the costs of the newspaper were however so big that for it in January 1981 I had no possibility and so the matter remained ripening to the depths of my soul.

Juhannusaattona vuonna 1983 minä olin osallisena rajussa liikenneonnettomuudessa, ja tämän seurauksena minulle tuli vaikea ja pysyvä liikuntavamma. Tämä minun kova kohtaloni kääntyi voitoksi sikäli, että vakuutusyhtiöiltä saamani korvaukset mahdollistivat lehteni toimittamisen ja niin ARETALOGIAn ensimmäinen numero ilmestyi marraskuussa 1984. Vuonna 1985 ARETALOGIA rekisteröitiin YK:n alaisessa ISDN-rekisterissä tunnuksella ISSN 0782-1336. Tämän jälkeen ARETALOGIA on ilmestynyt 4-6 numeroa vuodessa ja on kokenut erittäin voimakkaan kehitysprosessin niin asiasisällön kuin ulkoisen ilmeenkin osalta. Nyt kun perinteisistä hengellisistä julkaisuista poiketen käsittelin lehdessäni paljon myös jokapäiväisen elämän realiteetteja sekä asiain syitä ja seurauksia, kiinnostusta lehteä kohtaan on ilmennyt laajoissa kansalaispiireissä. Kiinnostusta on ollut myös ateistisen maailmankatsomuksen omaavien keskuudessa. Aretalogian vaikutukset ovat heijastelleet kaikissa yhteiskuntapiireissä, aina poliisin ylintä johtoa sekä muita maamme korkeimpia hallinto- ja oikeusviranomaisia myöten. Samoin Sodankylän kyläkuvassa Aretalogian vaikutukset näkyivät mm. siinä, että kun vielä 1980-luvun puolivälissä Sodankylän öinen torielämä oli lähinnä kaaosta, jossa torin puut ja pensaat, jopa lipputangot menivät säpäleiksi, niin nyt Sodankylän öinen tori on yksi rauhallisimpia paikkoja.
On Midsummer Eve in 1983, I was involved in fierce traffic accident, and as a result to me came difficult and permanent physical disability. This my hard fate of mine turned to be a victory so far that the compensations received by me from the insurance companies made the delivery of my newspaper possible and so the first of the Aretalogia number was published in November 1984. ARETALOGIA was registered in 1985 UN’s in subordinate in the international ISDN register on the number ISSN 0782-1336. After this ARETALOGIA has appeared, 4-6 numbers per year and it is experienced an extremely strong development process for the contents as well as an external expression. Now that as distinct from traditional spiritual publications I dealt with many realities of the everyday life also in my newspaper and reasons and consequences of the matters, the interest in the paper has appeared in wide public circles. The interest has also been among the ones having an atheistic worldview. Aretalogian the effects have reflected in all the society in our country, in the uppermost management of the police as well as among administrative authorities and judicial officers. Likewise the effects of the Aretalogia were seen in the village picture in Sodankylä among others in it, that when as late as in the middle of the 1980's the nocturnal market place life of Sodankylä was closest to the chaos, in which trees and bushes of the market place, even the flagpoles went to smithereens, so now the nocturnal market place of Sodankylä is one the most peaceful places.

2. Internetin kautta yli maiden ja merien.

Tilanne meillä Suomen ja Ruotsin Lapissa oli 1800-luvun puolivälissä todella surkea. Kansalaisten pitkälle levinnyt alkoholisoituminen, porovarkaudet ja jopa miestapot olivat jokapäiväistä todellisuutta ja viranomaisilla ei ollut keinoja asioiden korjaamiseen.
     Sitä vastoin todellinen ratkaisu ajan haasteisiin löytyi Ruotsin Lapista, Karesuannon pitäjästä. Siellä silloinen kirkkoherra Lars Leevi Laestadius oli kokenut syvällisen hengellisen herätyksen ja hän lähti hengen voimassa saarnaamaan uutta sanomaa kaikelle kansalle. Vaikka lähtökohdat uusien tuulien puhaltamiselle Lapissa olivat vähäiset, levisivät uuden henkisen heräämisen tuulet muutaman vuosikymmenen aikana Ruotsin, Norjan ja Suomen Lapista aina Venäjän Pietariin ja Amerikkaan asti. Uuden herätyksen vaikutus oli se, että kokonaisista kyläkunnista Lapissa tuli täysin raittiita. Porovarkaat tunnustivat ja sovittivat rikokset ja täysin uusi elämä versoi ihmisten sydämissä. Samoin tämän lestadiolaisuuden nimellä tunnetun herätyksen vaikutus on näkynyt viime vuosikymmeniin asti siinä, että meillä Lapissa ei ole tarvinnut lukkoja talojen oviin laittaa. Onkin sanottu, että tämä herätysliike on ollut paras "poropoliisi", mitä Lapissa on koskaan ollut.
The situation Finland's and Sweden's in Lapland in the middle of the 1800's had really wretched. Citizens had become addicted to alcohol, likewise reindeer thefts and even manslaughters was an everyday reality and the authorities did not have means for the repair of matters.
     Whereas the real solution to the challenges of the time was found from parish of the Karesuanto Sweden’s from Lapland. There, the then vicar Lars Leevi Laestadius had experienced a profound spiritual awakening and he went to preach a new message in the power of the spirit to all people. Even though the starting points for the blowing of new winds in Lapland were minor, they spread the winds of the new spiritual awakening in a few decades Sweden's, Norway's and Finland's from Lapland even into St. Petersburg in Russia and also to the America. The effect of the new awakening was it that in Lapland the whole village communities became totally sober. The reindeer thieves confessed and fitted to be their crimes and the totally new life began in the people's hearts. Likewise on name of this Laestadianism of the awakening known the effect with has been seen until last decade in it that in Lapland we have not needed to put locks to the door of houses. It has indeed been said that this religious movement has been "the best reindeer police" who in Lapland has been found ever.

Yksi Lars Leevi Laestadiuksen toimintasektoreista oli oman lehden, ”Huutavan ääni”, toimittaminen. Alkuvaiheessa hän kirjoitti artikkelit tähän hänen lehteen hanhensulkakynällä ja mustikkamehulla säkkipaperille.
     Nykyään tekninen kehitys on luonut täysin uudet ulottuvuudet lehtien ja kirjojen painamiseen sekä sähköiseen viestintään, jonka kautta voidaan kommunikoida reaaliajassa kaikkialle maailmaan. Nyt kun ihminen on teknisestä kehityksestä ja tiedon lisääntymisestä huolimatta pohjimmiltaan sama, kuin on ollut jo vuosituhansia omien henkisien tarpeidensa kanssa, tarjoaa nyt nämä internet-yhteydet ennennäkemättömät ja huikaisevat mahdollisuudet vastata ajan haasteisiin sekä mahdollisuuden lähteä täysin uusien arvojen ja ihanteiden toteuttamisen tielle. Ei vain täällä Suomen Lapissa, vaan kaikkialla maailmassa ja kaikkien kansojen keskuudessa.
On Lars Leevi Laestadius one from the action sectors was an own newspaper, “a voice of the Shouting”, delivery. Initially, he wrote the articles into this journal with the goose feather pen and by blueberry juice to sack paper.
     Nowadays the technical development has created the totally new dimensions for the printing of the papers and books and for electric communication. Via the Internet we can communicate in real time everywhere in the world. Now that the human being have been basically the same as already millenniums with own mental needs in spite of technical development and the increase in the information, Internet offers the unparalleled and dazzling opportunities in the present for encounter of the challenges, and the opportunity to start implementation completely for new values and ideals. This is not only here Finland’s in Lapland, but everywhere in the world and among all the people.

Ihminen ei elä vain leivästä eikä parhaimmatkaan ulkoiset puitteet pysty tyydyttämään niitä tarpeita, jotka jokaisen ihmisen salatussa sisimmässä asuu kaipauksena rauhaan, hyvyyteen, rakkauteen, totuuteen ja oikeuteen. Me ihmiskuntana elämme ristiriitojen maailmassa, jossa pelko ja viha turmelevat ihmisten elämän; ja jossa tuskin kenelläkään on todella hyvä olla. Vaikka onkin niin, että meillä Suomessa monilla ihmisillä asiat ovat henkilökohtaisesti hyvin, niin uutiset maailmalta kertovat jatkuvista ja pahenevista hirmutöistä, nälästä ja hirvittävistä vääryyksistä, joita on usein vaikea todeksi uskoa; ja joille yksikään ihminen ei voi silmiään ja sydäntään sulkea. Voittaaksemme nykyisen pelon ja vihan ahdistaman maailman henkisen ilmapiirin, meidän kaikkien täytyy lähteä kulkemaan henkisen kasvun ja humanististen arvojen toteuttamisen rikkaalle tielle.
The human being does not live on only bread and not even the best external framework can to meet those needs, which live every human being’s deep down as a longing to the peace, goodness, love, truth and to a right. We live as mankind in the world of conflicts in which the fear and the hatred damage the people's life; and in which hardly anybody has really good to be. Even if it indeed is so that many us in Finland people will have matters personally well, so many the news from the world tells about continuing and worsening atrocities, about a hunger and about the horrible crookedness, which it is difficult faith to true; and to which not a single human being can close his eyes and his heart. So we overcome the present mental atmosphere of the world, where do the fear and anger strangle the people’s minds, we all must to leave onto the rich way of the realisation of spiritual growth and of humanist values.

Tästä maailmasta on yritetty tehdä parempaa maailmaa monenlaisten uskontojen kautta. Sellaisenaan nämä uskonnot ovat hyvää tarkoittaneet, mutta karsinoidessaan ihmiset eri uskontokuntiin, nämä uskonnot ovat luoneet omat jännitteensä ja lukemattomat sodat maailmassa.
     Minun mielipiteeni on, että uusillakaan uskonnoilla maailman ongelmia ei ratkaista silloin kun niiden toiminta perustuu ihmisten käännyttämiseen, henkiseen alistamiseen ja ihmisten karsinointiin heidän omiin uskontoihin. Uusi ja parempi maailma voidaan luoda vain yksilöiden henkisellä kasvulla niin, että pystymme kohtaamaan ilman pelkoa ja vihaa maailman kaikkien uskontojen edustajat ja kansanheimot lähimmäisinä ja kunnioittamaan heidän näkemyksiään ja identiteettivapauttaan ja puolustamaan heidän oikeuksiaan. Vain hyvyyden, rakkauden, totuuden ja oikeuden kylvö on sitä kylvötyötä, josta voimme ajan myötä niittää satoa tulevaan parempaan maailmanaikaan. Ilman totuutta ei ole oikeutta ja ilman oikeutta ei ole rauhaa. Ja vielä: "Pelkoa ei rakkaudessa ole vaan täydellinen rakkaus karkottaa pelon". Tällä tavoin on kirjoitettu pyhissä kirjoituksissa ja tällaiseksi viestiksi hyvyydestä, totuudesta, oikeudesta ja rakkaudesta, yli maiden ja merien sekä yli kansakuntain, myös nämä Aretalogian sivut olen tarkoittanut.
It has been tried from this world to make a better world through many kinds of religions. As such on these religions has been a good purpose, but when separating the people to different religions, these religions have created their own tensions and innumerable wars in the world.
     My opinion is that even with new religions the problems of the world are not solved when their action aim is the people’s the converting, spiritual oppression and the people's separating their into own religious society. The new better world can be created only with the spiritual growth so that we are able to meet the representatives of all the religions of the world without fear and hatred and tribes as fellowmen and to respect their views and their identity freedom and to defend their rights. Only the sowing of goodness, love, the truth and right is it sowing work, from which we can mow the crop at the future in better the world. There is no court without the truth and there is no peace without the court. And still: "The fear have not in the love but the perfect love expels the fear". In this way, is written in the scriptures and like this as message about a goodness, truth, right and love, over countries and seas as well as over the nations, I have meant also Aretalogia home pages.
